6/25/26 Observations
At back of property (near creek)
Trees seen:

  • Mockernut Hickory
  • Red Maple
  • Post Oak
  • Sourwood
  • Black Cherry
  • Mountain Laurel
  • Winged Elm
  • Finger Tree

The Creek was dry (drought compared to previous years) but very peaceful. I noticed hoof prints (likely deer) and the creek has brown foam.

6/26/26 Property Tour
9:10am

  • Feels peaceful minus insects
  • A lot of history on property (kinda makes me sad)
  • IDK knowing a cemetery is here is a little weird
  • What looks like unkept grass acts as a young nursery for animals.. AwwJ
  • A specific “nature hub” is purposely not cut to help w/ erosion
  • Carvings: Horse heads shielded by huge wings. Mountain lions hunting pigs. War, Different troops killing each other. Tree carving in image of envir. And animals seen on back.
  • Quail Birds using prairie grass
  • IDK, seems like speaker suggests that slaves who worked land were considered kin and left money/Land (biological kin?) Need a little more info
  • Can see NC State line
  • Oddly has several “bat homes”  The bats are behaved
  • Fun fact- Pikes are a part of falcon family
  • Fun fact- different animals at different decomp stages.
  • Trees shed their fruit to protect roots (to keep H2O, less things to supply H2O to the better)

Overall: 6.3/10
