Facility Tour Journal Entry
During today’s tour we had the opportunity to observe a manmade field, cemetery and several carvings – not only this, but we also got detailed historical background on each of the stops. The first stop was the manmade field, from here I can establish that what surprised me the most was the separation and spacing of trees. It also interested me that the field’s trees ended in a straight line, it was later mentioned that they grew this way since a fence was up.

When it comes to the cemetery, I can say that for me this was one of the most interesting stops.

For starters, the architecture of it was not necessarily resembling the ones we see typically. The graves were much closer together than the ones we can see today and has been multiple search efforts for it.

Moving onto the carvings, I wanted to mention that for me it truly is incredible to see how people are able to mix so effectively accurate history with mesmerizing beauty. Every carving we visited depicted it’s entrance was very noticeably small in size.

One last thing I can mention that I was sincerely not aware or simply expecting is that only the family members could be buried in there, everyone else was buried in a separate one that can’t be land to this day even though there a distinct historical event behind it. For example, the “lesson log” and the “walkabout” are both beautiful structures that have a reason behind their creation.

Initial Facilities Overview
During our first day I can say I was heavily surprised and intrigued at the end of the day. … it can be said that the architecture is beautiful, but what I love the most is how cohesive the flora and vegetation connect with them.

I can also say that I’m grateful for having the opportunity to see a bigger biodiversity than the one I was able to find back at Aiken. For example, I was able to see a variety of toads, ants, beetles, ” luciérnagas “, and cicadas which were a different insect for me to see given that they’re not land in my residency or college.

Lastly, I wanted to add that the sounds of the biodiversity at night here are incredible, it can somewhat be said that it adds into the fully immersive experience of the farm, something that helps with this as well is the lack of heavy luminic contamination.

Macroinvertebrate diversity assessment experiences
As a part of today’s activities, we received a workshop based on surface water and macro-invertebrate monitoring. During this I learned that macro-invertebrates monitoring responds to integrated stresses over time, it reflects fluctuating mile away from any dam in the ecosystem.

The last thing I wanted to mention about today’s activity is the NC Biotic Index; this is an equation that helps determine ecosystem health environmental conditions.

What I found the most helpful was when they explained the key parameters for site selection – they explained how It had to be downstream in the watershed, it also has to be accessible and flowing and it needs to be at least at least 1/4.

After never going through a camping experience, I can state that it was definitely not what I expected. I was coming in with the idea that the experience was actually reflecting a disaster scenic so arriving at the facilities encountering a sort “glamping” situation a made it easier to ground with the environment.
